Foreman
Overview
The Foreman is responsible for leading a crew on the ground — directing daily activities, keeping work on track, and acting as the link between field personnel and the Construction Manager.
In Geo-CX, the Foreman base role gives users the tools they need to manage their team's time and activity, stay on top of safety and documentation at crew level, and communicate with the rest of the organization. Access is scoped to their own crew by default — Foremans do not see data from other crews unless specifically configured.

Module Access
Main Responsibilities in Geo-CX
- Validate crew timesheets and field activity logs
- Submit and manage safety and documentation records at crew level
- Monitor crew member locations on the map
- Communicate with the team and other personnel via chat
- Submit and track time off requests
What This Base Role Can Access
Timesheets
The Foreman has access to both their own timesheet and their crew's timesheets. They can add manual time entries, validate their crew's submitted timesheets, and edit timesheet entries when corrections are needed. This is one of the Foreman's core responsibilities in the platform.
Safety & Document Control
The Foreman can enter both the Safety Management View and the Document Control View. They can view records from their crew, create new submissions, and edit existing ones within their allowed scope. They cannot create or manage form templates — that is handled by admin users. Their role focuses on filling out and acting on the forms that have already been set up.
Chats
Full access to the Chats module — the Foreman can start conversations, send messages, and manage group chats, making it easy to stay in contact with crew members and communicate field issues up the chain.
Time Off
Access to the Time Off module to submit their own requests and view their team's time off activity.
Crew Location (Map)
The Foreman can view the location of punched-in employees from their own crew only. This allows them to monitor who is on site and where, without access to the broader organization map.
What This Base Role Cannot Do
| Not Available | Notes |
|---|---|
| Create or manage form templates | Form Builder is reserved for admin-level users |
| View other crews or organization-wide data | Scope is limited to the Foreman's own crew |
| Manage projects, crews, or resources | Administrative tasks are handled by Construction Manager roles |
| Access Reports | Reporting is not included in this base role |
| Billing & subscription settings | Reserved for the Account Owner only |
Note: Some safety and documentation capabilities — such as reporting safety observations or QC findings at crew level — may be configured as a Safety Representative function. If your organization uses this distinction, access can be tailored through a custom role built on the Foreman base.
Tip: The Foreman base role is the right foundation for on-site supervisors who need to manage their crew's daily activity without access to broader administrative functions. Permissions can be adjusted within a custom role to match the specific responsibilities of each Foreman in your organization.
