Mentioning Someone in a Chat
Overview
Mentions let you notify a specific person in a conversation. When you mention someone, they receive a push notification directing them to the message — useful when you need to make sure a particular team member sees something in a busy group chat.
Mentions work in both direct messages and group chats.

How to Mention Someone
Type @ in the message field
In any conversation, tap the input field and type @. A dropdown appears above the keyboard showing members of the conversation.
Find the person
Continue typing the person's name to filter the list. The dropdown updates as you type.
- The list shows up to 8 members at a time.
- The search is not case-sensitive — typing "john" matches "John".
Tap their name
Tap the name in the dropdown. It is inserted into your message as @Full Name and the dropdown closes.
- You can mention multiple people in the same message — type @ again after the first mention.
Send the message
Finish writing your message and tap the send button. The mentioned person receives a push notification immediately.

What the Mentioned Person Receives
When you mention someone, they receive a push notification on their device:

| Title | "You were mentioned" |
| Body | Your name followed by the first part of your message |
Tapping the notification takes them directly to the conversation and the message where they were mentioned.
Things to Know
Mentions only notify — they do not restrict visibility. Everyone in the conversation can still see the message. The mention simply sends an additional notification to the person you tagged.
You can only mention people already in the conversation. The dropdown only shows members of the current chat. If the person you need to reach is not in the group, add them first. See → Managing Group Members.
Mentions work the same in direct messages and group chats. In a direct message, mentioning the other person sends them a notification on top of the standard message notification — useful when the message is urgent.
